Every year, there are over 8 million slip-and-fall accidents in The United States; over 540,000 of these result in injuries requiring hospital care. Approximately 300,000 of these falls result in disabling injuries. In hotels, restaurants and public buildings, slip-and-fall accidents are the number one cause of serious injuries – slip-and-fall accidents account for two out of three fatal injuries that occur in the home and our older population is most vulnerable. Just over 70% of these falls occur on flat, level surfaces. Slip-and-fall accidents account for over 17,000 fatalities per year in The United States – that is 47 persons killed per day from slip-and-fall accidents!
